One of those fascinating more ‘traditional’ artists is the Columbian José Antonio Suárez Londoño. The artist apparently prefers a quiet life, keeping modern means of communication at bay (like email, cell phone, internet, etc). He concentrates on drawing and graphic techniques, and, in this way developed a huge portfolio of works of art. He is considered to be among the most skilful and inspiring printmakers in Latin America today. Indeed, his work shows tremendous imagination and creativity. He persistently works on his visual autobiography, making a drawing a day in sketchbooks, often based on the books that he reads.
Fortunately he already had considerable public attention, with exhibitions in New York, Madrid and so forth. Not in the Netherlands, so far as I know, unfortunately….
